EUROPEAN BREEZE IN BALKANS

Belgrade/Serbia

Belrade; the most European city in Balkans; is where unique nature of Balkans and European culture unite. Belgrade is also meeting point of Danube and Sava Rivers.

Belgrade consistes of two parts. These are Old City (Stari Grad) and New Belgrade (Novi Beograd).

I'm going to tell you about Old City (Stari Grad) because of  i've been only there before in Serbia.

When to go? Where to stay ?

For me; april-may-june are the best months to visit Belgrade.Belgrade is a small city so the most likely transportation way is walking. Because of that i suggest you to look forecast of Belgrade, before you plan your holiday.

I stayed in Atlas City Center which is on Knez Mihailova Street when i went to Belgrade. It has a great point on Booking.com. But i don't think that it deserves. I remember that i was dissatisfied especially about hygiene. I suggest you to book a different hotel on Knez Mihailova Street. Because Knez Mihailova Street is the heart of Old City (Stari Grad).

Places To Visit

1) Kalemegdan and Belgrade Castle

Kalemegdan where is the place you can see the most clear city view from,is on city center. It is exactly on the meeting point of Danube and Sava Rivers. There are military museum, zoo and park area in Kalemegdan. Kalemegdan has taken on its name from combitanion of 'kale' (which means 'castle' in Turkish) and 'meydan' (which means 'square' in Turkish) in Ottoman Empire Rulership Period.

2) Knez Mihailova Street

As i said before Knez Mihailova Street is the heart of Belgrade. It is possible to see a lot of cafes and restaurants on the street. I suggest you to take a break-while you are walking on Knez Mihailova Street to Kalemegdan-and drink something in a cafe on Knez Mihailova Street. (I've tasted cappuccino, it was delicious).

There are so many international store like Zara and Mango on the street. But i recommend you to buy somethings from little souvenir shops which have traditional objects on Kalemegdan.

3) Republic Square

This square which has The Statue of Prince Mihailo Obrenović, is quite close to Knez Mihailova Street. Also this square is used as a meeting point of people.

4) Nikola Tesla Museum

House of famous  physicist Nikola Tesla, which is in Belgrade is a museum.

If you visit; first you're going to watch a short documentary and then you're going to see different pyhsics  experiments and even you're going to test them yourself.

Single Ticket: 500 RSD (4.5 EUR - 5.25 USD-3.75GBP) Museum is closed on saturday, sunday and monday.

5)Skadarlija

Skadarlija is also one of the places to visit in Belgrade because of its bohemian style. And there are so many restaurants which you can taste traditional Serbian foods on Skadarlija.

Of course there are so many places to visit in Belgrade but i've visited these places. I think that 3-4 days are enough to visit the main places of Belgrade.
